Northeast Alabama Community College

Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) is a two year institution that serves the northeastern part of the state. The college is a member of the Alabama Community College System. NACC is conveniently located near the town of Rainsville, approximately halfway between Scottsboro and Fort Payne. The college offers a number of degree and non-degree programs.

NACC offers university parallel programs that will allow students to transfer to a four year college or university. Students that follow Alabama’s STARS agreement are guaranteed that their credits will transfer to all public colleges and universities in the state, as well as a number of private colleges in state. Students who are working toward degrees may earn an Associate of Arts, an Associate of Science, or an Associate in Applied Science degree at NACC. Athens State University, an upper division public university, has a center on the NACC campus. Students may complete their associate degree and then transfer to Athens State University to complete their four year degree on the same campus. This is a convenient and cost effective option for many students.

In addition to the degree programs, NACC offers non-degree and certificate programs. Workforce Development programs include child development, medical assisting, EMS/paramedic, drafting and design technology, and industrial systems technology programs. Some of the Skills Training programs offered include nursing assistant, dental aide, pharmacy technician, and home health/hospice aide. NACC also offers continuing education classes and online classes.

There are approximately 3,400 full time and part time students enrolled at the college. No on campus housing is available. Students may participate in a variety of campus activities and organizations including music and theater groups, religious organizations, student government, honor societies, professional clubs, and student publications. Intramural sports are open to all students. Basketball, volleyball, softball, flag football, and table tennis teams are available. The campus also has tennis courts.

NACC makes its facilities available to the surrounding northeast Alabama community. A number of theater productions and other programs are open to the community each year. The college’s state of the art Tom Bevill Lyceum seats 700 people. The college makes its library and resources available to the community. The campus also has a nature/walking trail that is open to the public. The path leads around a small lake.
Northeast Alabama Community College is located on Lowell Barron Highway (Hwy. 35) five miles west of Rainsville. The campus is located atop the scenic Sand Mountain Plateau and is convenient to Lake Guntersville, DeSoto State Park, and the Little River Canyon.
